Feburary Good Deeds

So I realized mid way through the month I hadn't been working on my random acts.  Funnily enough I then inadvertently did one.  I was driving (more like barreling down the road) thinking about what I could do when I saw a dog and slammed on my breaks. Well, I don't run things down ever, but this dog was suicidal because he wasn't even trotting across the road. He looked at me and kind of smiled that "I'm a happy dog. You could just kick me and I would still love you" smile. I didn't kill the dog hooray for me! So here is where it is a half random act because what I should have done was stop and get the dog in my car and take him to his home. He had a collar and everything. He didn't seem to know where he was going, but I seriously didn't think of it until I was like two miles away.

I decided I wasn't going to count that one, but then I did another half one so I figured it would be a whole and I could count the dog. I was just so proud to not hit that darn dog, maybe cause I made eye contact with him. I decided to pick up a trip because I wanted to rearrange my schedule and I thought if I picked up on Valentine's day I would be able to get the weekend off and go to Paris for a Valentine's dinner. Well I ended up working the weekend and I was still stuck with the Valentine's trip.  I went to take over the lady's shift when she totally was grateful for me picking it up.  She actually wanted it off for Ash Wednesday and was happy for Valentine's too.  I was totally stoked because I did an act of kindness without knowing it, so yeah it half counted.

My other full act of kindness had to do with a friend from the Internets. I was brave and met a girl from one of my Facebook groups (I so totally don't do the meeting people on the Internets). Anyway we had done something once before and now she wanted to go to The Heavy and Light Tour. She had no one to go with and I was afraid she wouldn't go (and it seemed like she really needed to).At first I didn't know what it was, so I was totally didn't want to go because I thought it was some touchy feely thing that I so didn't want to participate in.  I found out that it was a concert with a bunch of different artists, think of a super small Coachella. She was totally stoked to get out of the house and I was stoked to find a new band the Now, Now.  (Tera when you bother to read this the bass player in this band totally looked and acted like you if you were in a band.)  Unfortunately no pictures of this concert since I believe I should experience it live without viewing it through my phone.

My "Hipster" Living Room

I've been so excited for this post.  I want everyone to see my clever moment of craftiness.  At dragoncon last year we bought these hipster Doctor Who pictures to match our propaganda poster.  I was excited, but to find eleven picture frames becomes pretty expensive for an odd shaped picture.  Daniel picked out the crazy green for the wall (which actually turned out better than I thought). I was at the auction when my friend found these windows and said we could do something with them.  I said yeah, but didn't think about it for two months and then it hit me like lighting.  I could use them as picture frames.  Painted blue they could be like the Tardis windows with them poking their heads out.  I bid for my windows for $5 each (instead of a whopping $120), a can of paint for $28 and some other small needs $11,  It took a month, but they are finally done!  I have a fully complete decorated room and it feels mighty posh to have an interior design theme, even if it is nerdy.

Finally Pictures!

So this weekend Daniel and I did something picture worthy. We went to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for our niece's baptism.

It was a lot of fun even though most of Daniel's family wasn't there we had a blast with those  who were. We first got on all the flights we booked on.  Do you know how fun traveling is when you don't have to worry on how you're getting there? We even got to sit next to each other. I was so excited I had to document it!

We had fun our first day just talking. It was nice because we went out to lunch and then had dinner in. Daniel was so excited to be with David and commandeer all of his attentions with all of the kids.

The next day was the baptism and it was great. We all got dressed up and headed over to the church. Daniel gave me the best complement. He said, "I looked very good and put together, like I was some rich person in Atlanta." High praise indeed since he works in such a posh part of town. However he could have just smiled at me and I would  have gone mushy anyway. I find in January I usually refall in love with him since that was the first time I did.

After the baptism we came home to go shooting. I have never had a desire to shoot guns, nor do I care much about them; however, I saw two pictures with my childhood best friends shootings rifles a few years ago and I couldn't help it, but they looked really sexy and bad ass. I thought I couldn't be out done. David said he would talking me shooting next time I came (two years ago) since Daniel has as much a clue about guns as I do. With the current drama going on it spoiled our plans because there were no bullets to shoot. Apparently South Dakota is a huge hunting, gun toting state, and they aren't in any real threat form Obama polices, but they still ran out and bought all the ammo (apparently the most common ammo is out of stock in a four state radius).
After our shooting disappointment we came home to play games with the kids. Daniel was helping Kostya play lego Lord of the Rings when he took off his shirt Daniel had to make him a hoodlum by putting Daniel's beanie I laughed 'cause his hands look like gangster symbols when he wasn't playing the game. We had an awesome time and walked right on our plane to get home the next day.
