New Doctor; New Adventures

So, I should talk about Christmas and how great it was etc, but I worked every holiday at time and a half. I figure that was good enough and why not when I don't have kids, so let the other people who need it off should have it. Anyway I have been house bound since Saturday night feeling sick since I have partied nonstop since the beginning of December (some photos will come) and am exhausted. The best part of the new year is that they picked a new Doctor Who. Matt Smith, he is virtually a no name and the youngest Doctor ever, but I have seen him before (did I mention he has only ever been in seven things). Daniel hates this knack that I have to know every British actor on the scene right now so that I can play "Kevin Bacon" to any British or American film (seriously I can take it from American film and start raveling people down into obscure British film). Every time I see something new I scream where I've seen that person before. I am excited to see what this kid will do.

Applefest 2008

I have to back up and tell what we did in September. I haven't had time and I knew there would be a slow moment coming up in our lives.
We went up to Ellijay, Ga to the Applefest mostly because we heard that the apple pies were fabulous and we were having an intense month of touring North Georgia for its mountains. It was a neat little town that focuse is the Applefest in September. We walked around the town square then went to the fair grounds. We bought a peck of Georgia apples, shared an apple pie, and found a wagon full of different sodas. The best part was settling down with our mugs of soda and watching the dance troupe that had come up from the city. It reminded me of how much I loved going to festivals and dancing when I was younger. Daniel was kind of shocked because I was doing my loud "yah" and "whoops" and clapping and criticizing the dancers and telling him who was good and which dancer was actually a teacher. It made me a little excited and the sugar from our mugs of soda wasn't helping any.

The Object is Near

Yesterday I was heading into Greensboro North Carolina, and everyone got off the plane when the rampers started going all crazy. Our crew found out the president was coming. I've seen Air Force two other times and it is still exciting. We got out of the aircraft (since the airport was closed and we weren't going to go anywhere) we saw the helicopters hovering at the runway, and secret service driving around in there big scary SUVs. One of the ramper was joking that another ramper should walk out with a bag scanner and point it at the plane so we could see where the snipers were. The pilots always laugh when Air Force One is flying because Air Traffic Control won't tell them what it is. Greensboro was calling it the object.

The most interesting part was watching every worker come out of the airport to watch it land. The usual comments were made that they didn't like Bush and this was a waste of taxpayer money, blah blah. I couldn't help but notice that even though everyone felt that way they were still lined up to see him come in. It surprised me because the press gives him such a bad wrap and we as Americans don't really give him the respect that his office deserves (aka all the bad jokes comments and down right crazy talk that he has generated). Yet, the everyday American lined up with excitement to see the President of the United States plane. I felt like I was in a parade, and we didn't even get to see him! When Air Force One landed, we all stood quiet and one of my pilots whistled at the nice landing. I didn't think with all the talk, that Americans respected the office of the President, but all those employees showed a huge amount of respect even though they didn't like him. I am glad that some patriotism of how this country was set up is left.

Goble! Goble!

All I have to say is that I did it all by myself, from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Daniel carved and the rolls are Lion House and made three loafs of bread. I am pooped but glad I did it because I could show off my two new pieces of China; a casserole dish and a gravy boat.

Time Goes By

Well not much has happened lately. I have been off to Montreal, Canada practicing some French as well as wishing for some snow. They don't have any snow yet, but New York State has a ton--go figure. The best part of Montreal is that is has a dry cold like Salt Lake so you can actually go out and explore the town unlike Albany New York where you step out of the hotel and you can wait to step right back in! Daniel has been workin' hard to finish up school for the semester and not be irritated with the classes he wished he could have learned more in.
We spent our Thanksgiving hanging out since I got in from a trip in the afternoon, and Daniel was asked to a work friend's house for dinner. We are going to make our dinner a little belated on Saturday, but I have already broken out the Christmas music.
We should have a great Christmas this year in electronics because we will be about to get an xbox and a new camera. We were able to totally work the system and get them for free because we used some points from our credit card and them we got $400 from our apartment for staying there for another year. All in all our electronics cost us $26. Now we have to work on games and printing pictures.
