Throwback Grammsie

This picture is of Grammsie, Elizabeth Bertha Lee, Opa's mom. She was about 90+ years old.  Heather was visiting her at Opa's house in the Avenues in Salt Lake.

This was Elizabeth at 19. What a babe I hope I can look back and realize I looked that great.  Mostly I just see troll pictures of myself until I hit 25 years old.

Throwback Easter

Stumbled on some old Easter photos. One is in Lake Powell during a family vacation. I remember trying to drown myself this trip. Totally by accident I fell off the path from an island to the mainland. After that I couldn't go any where without a lifejacket.

The next picture reminds me of how my father always would hide out Easter baskets and them claim that the Easter Bunny went to a bar the night before, got drunk, and then run over crossing the street.  We would then try to find our baskets because no one knew where the Easter Bunny put them before he died.  Yeah we had some strange stories.

 For April it is a bit of a stall for family history. I found out I can get Ancestry free in June. I probably will binge watch their YouTube site.  I have picked up scrapbooking for this month.  I feel like a throwback Thursday, but all of my pictures are already on my blog.  I may have to do some from my childhood scrapbook this month. I should start with two pictures since I have missed the first two weeks.

I guess I have a plug for Storycorps.  I finally got a podcast app and have been binge consuming podcasts that I’ve always wanted to follow.  I have learned a great many random facts, it’s my hobby after all, and I remembered that they had StoryCorps on NPR as a podcast.  StoryCorps is a recording of oral traditions and lives of everyday people. It is then archived in Washington DC.  They have three permanent bases in the country, one in Atlanta, and a moving studio throughout the country recording in rural and other areas. I would love to do this, but the people I want to archive don’t live in Atlanta or come to visit me.  I did think about Daniel and I could interview each other, but I have a recording of us talking about how we met and what that was like for us feeling like we were outside of our cultural norm. I do have a friend who is big advocate for breastfeeding and is helping with legislation in Georgia. That could be interesting, but I also heard about Florence Williams book about our least researched, fascinating, miraculous organ…breasts. It could be that it is just on my mind.  Most people are interesting to me, but I suppose I want to interview someone who thinks their interesting and open to bizarre questions.  Most the time when I interview older people I ask inappropriate questions about sex because I think the cultural shift in that area has been so huge in the last fifty years and what hasn’t really changed from the different historical views on sex.  Can you tell I took a History of Sex class in college? This could be something to add to my resolution.
