Valentines has come and gone. It usually isn't a big deal, but we decided to do a little something special. We came up with a special dinner. Daniel and I have never had much luck with Valentines day dinner. It usually ends up going to two restaurants and finally getting into the last restaurant starving to death, being onery and scarfing down food; barely talking to each other. Now we just stay in and make our own dinners, which is cheaper anyways. We made these awesome salmon kebabs with a shrimp appetizer.
We also have a funny tradition of Daniel making me cards and I usually buy some cheap cheesy card that somehow is perfect for Daniel. Daniel is getting really good at the cards. I don't know if you can see all the pictures, but he wrote four things that we could do for Valentine's Day. I know you can't read what any of them are, but one is listening to him prattle on about math, two is receiving flowers, three is making out, and four is watching Battlestar Galactica on the couch. Romantic Huh!

Daniel's BIG 2-7
Daniel turned 27 this year (on the 6th). I went nuts and bought him a lot of presents. Not very fun presents ie a trimmer and a replacement razors. He seemed happy, but he is always surprised because he doesn't remember his birthday a something special. The first year we celebrated his birthday I got a balloon bouquet and threw candy on his bed with a card. He was SHOCKED by that. I always ask him if he wants a party and he can't think of anything or anyone to invite. Once again this year we had a mini party with Juston, Mary, and Frankie, and I made ice cream pie. We tweaked the ice cream, so that it became a Oreo, Butterfinger ice cream pie. Oreo Butterfinger shakes are Daniel's favorite. This time we went out to a pizza joint that had some live music and we got to see Frankie get funk on. It was fun.

January blues
January is the worst month of the year. It usually is slow because there are no more parties. Everyone is poor from Christmas; the weather is blah (and even cold in Atlanta). To help with the January Blues; I remember my mother would always start a new project or hobby just to get through the month.
For New Years, we went over to a friend's house and played their Xbox. There was some classic singing from American Idol. When I sang, I was able to get the little bitty kids to dance with my smooth moves and way "talented" singing.
Then my parents came to visit (to get out of the inversion in SLC). We had a nice relaxed weekend and went to visit the Little White House in Warm Springs. This is where President Franklin D Roosevelt went to try to recover from Polio. It actually influenced most of his presidency, and helped him create all the programs for the New Deal. He opened a rehabilitation center there that is still in operation today.
Our biggest excitement was getting a bookcase. We sorely needed one. Dos, our cat, jumped on one of the shelves and it broke. We decided that we would go to Office Max to get really sturdy shelves (thank you Dad for the suggestion) and we bought three thinking that it would give us extra room to grow. Well, we put the shelves together and got our books together and they were stacked in piles and piles. Soon our bookcase was full except for one shelf. I put some pictures of us on the open shelf and it makes the shelves feel like ours. Daniel kept looking at the bookcases that day admiring them. He felt all grown up (I don't know if that is because he put the bookcases together or because he had that many books).
